Introduction

Welcome to Activities Matter. These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of our application (“App”). By accessing or using the App, you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the App.

Purpose

Activities Matter is a journaling app that allows users to track their mood, activities, and upload related photos. Users can also gain insights into their activities and receive tips for reflection. The App is intended for personal use and should not be used for any commercial purposes.

User Eligibility

There are no age restrictions for using Activities Matter. Users cannot see the content of other users, and no content is age-restricted. By using the App, you represent and warrant that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms and to comply with them.

User Accounts and Data Handling

The App is fully usable without creating an account. Users may create an account using an email and password. Account creation and management are facilitated by Supabase, a secure backend service, and serve primarily for the following purposes:

  • Subscription Management: To manage and verify your subscription status if you choose to purchase the Premium features. Subscription processing is handled securely through RevenueCat.
  • Rate Limiting: To ensure fair usage and prevent abuse of certain features within the App. Crucially, all your personal journaling data, including your mood entries, activities, and uploaded photos, remains stored directly on your device. We do not access, collect, or store this personal data on our servers.

For your convenience and data security, you have the option to securely back up your journaling data to your personal Google Drive or iCloud account. This backup process is initiated and controlled entirely by you through your device’s operating system and respective cloud service providers. We have no access to or control over this backup process or the data stored within your personal cloud accounts. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account information and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account or any other breach of security.

Subscriptions and Purchases

Activities Matter offers a Premium feature that requires an annual subscription, which auto-renews. Subscriptions are processed through Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Premium users have access to more detailed insights and can create an unlimited number of activities, categories, goals, and more. By purchasing a subscription, you agree to pay the applicable fees and taxes. All fees are non-refundable except as required by law.

User Content

Users can only see their own content. We do not have access to or control over the content users upload, and there are no restrictions on the content that can be uploaded. However, you agree not to upload any content that is unlawful, defamatory, or infringes on any third-party rights. You retain all rights to the content you upload, but you grant us a license to use your content solely for the purpose of operating the App.

Prohibited Activities

Users must not use the App in any way that violates local laws. Additionally, you agree not to engage in any of the following prohibited activities: (a) accessing or using the App for any illegal purpose; (b) attempting to gain unauthorized access to the App or its related systems; (c) interfering with the security or integrity of the App; (d) using the App to transmit any harmful or disruptive content.

Termination

We reserve the right to terminate or suspend access to the App for users who engage in bad behavior, cause damage to our brand, or harm other users. Upon termination, your right to use the App will immediately cease. We also reserve the right to discontinue or modify any part of the App at any time without notice.

Liability

We strive to ensure the best app performance and stability. The main functionalities of the app operate on the user’s device, so performance depends on the device’s capabilities. Since all the data is stored locally, deleting the app without a backup of the data means all the data will be permanently deleted. We hold no liability for app limitations, errors in copy, or any other related issues. The App is provided “as is” and “as available” without any warranties of any kind, either express or implied. To the fullest extent permissible under applicable law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including, but not limited to, implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Anonymized App Activity Data

We may collect anonymized user activity data to understand how users interact with the App and to improve our services. This data is fully anonymized and does not contain any personal information, such as specific moods or activities. It is stored securely on third-party servers located in the EU, where we are located. You can choose to stop the collection of this anonymized data at any time through the App settings. Disabling this feature will not affect your ability to use the App.

Subscriptions and Payments

Activities Matter offers optional premium features accessible through a subscription. Subscription management and payment processing are securely handled by RevenueCat. When you purchase a subscription, you agree to RevenueCat’s terms of service and privacy policy, which will govern the payment process and related data handling. We do not directly collect or store your payment information.

Subscriptions may be offered on an auto-renewing basis. You can manage your subscriptions, including cancellation of auto-renewal, through your Google Play Store or Apple App Store account settings. Please refer to the respective store’s policies for details on managing subscriptions and refunds.

Data Deletion

We believe in providing you with full control over your data. You have the ability to permanently delete your account and any associated data within the App. This deletion process will remove your account information from Supabase. Please be aware that if you have not backed up your journaling data to your personal cloud storage (Google Drive or iCloud) prior to deleting your account, this local data will also be permanently lost and cannot be recovered by us. Similarly, deleting the App without a prior backup will result in the permanent loss of your locally stored journaling data.

Third-Party Services

To provide certain functionalities, our App integrates with the following third-party services:

  • Supabase: For secure user account creation and management related to subscriptions and rate limiting. Their use is governed by Supabase’s Terms of Service and Supabase’s Privacy Policy.
  • RevenueCat: For secure processing of in-app subscriptions. Their services are governed by RevenueCat’s Terms of Service and RevenueCat’s Privacy Policy.
  • Google Drive and iCloud: For optional user-initiated data backups. Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms of service and privacy policies. We encourage you to review the terms and privacy policies of these third-party services to understand their data handling practices.

Privacy Considerations

We are committed to protecting your privacy. As highlighted, your personal journaling data remains on your device and is only backed up to your personal cloud storage if you choose to do so. We do not access or store this data. The limited account information managed by Supabase is solely for the purposes of subscription management and rate limiting, as outlined above.

Our collection of anonymized app activity data, as described in the “Anonymized App Activity Data” section, does not contain any personally identifiable information and is used solely to improve the App.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Germany and the European Union. Local laws may also apply. Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the use of the App will be resolved in the courts of Germany.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Terms on this page. You are advised to review these Terms periodically for any changes. Your continued use of the App following the posting of changes constitutes your acceptance of such changes.
