Terms of Use

1. Agreement to Terms

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Stojanov Ventures UG (haftungsbeschrankt) (“we,” “us,” “our”), a company registered in Germany, regarding your use of the Activities Matter website and mobile application (“App”).

By creating an account or using Activities Matter, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

3. What Activities Matter Is

Activities Matter is a privacy-focused journaling and life-tracking app that helps you track your moods, activities, goals, and commitments across five life pillars. All your personal data is stored locally on your device. The App also offers optional AI-powered features for reflection and insights.

The App is intended for personal use and should not be used for any commercial purposes.


4. User Eligibility

There are no age restrictions for using Activities Matter. Users cannot see the content of other users, and no content is age-restricted. By using the App, you represent and warrant that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms and to comply with them.


5. User Accounts and Data Handling

The App is fully usable without creating an account. Users may create an account using an email and password, or via Google Sign-In or Apple Sign-In. Account creation and management are facilitated by Supabase, a secure backend service, and serve for the following purposes:

  • Subscription Management: To manage and verify your subscription status if you choose to purchase Premium features. Subscription processing is handled securely through RevenueCat.
  • Encrypted Backups: To store your end-to-end encrypted data backup, enabling secure backup and optional cross-device access. We cannot read the content of your backup.
  • Rate Limiting: To ensure fair usage and prevent abuse of certain features within the App.

All your personal journaling data — including mood entries, activities, goals, photos, videos, and voice recordings — remains stored directly on your device. We do not access, collect, or store this personal data on our servers (except as an optional end-to-end encrypted backup that only you can decrypt).

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account information and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account at hello@stojanovventures.com.


6. Subscriptions and Payments

Activities Matter offers a Premium subscription that provides access to more detailed insights and unlimited activities, categories, goals, and more.

  • Subscription terms, pricing, and billing cycles are displayed in the app before purchase
  • Subscriptions are processed through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store via RevenueCat
  • Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled before the renewal date
  • To cancel, use the subscription management in your device’s App Store or Play Store settings
  • Refunds are handled by Apple or Google according to their respective policies
  • You can restore previous purchases via the “Restore Purchase” option in the app

By purchasing a subscription, you agree to pay the applicable fees and taxes.


7. Right of Withdrawal (EU Consumers)

If you are a consumer in the European Union, you have the right to withdraw from a paid subscription within 14 days of purchase without giving any reason.

To exercise your right of withdrawal, you must inform us of your decision by a clear statement (e.g., by email to hello@stojanovventures.com).

Note: Subscriptions purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store are subject to the withdrawal and refund policies of Apple or Google respectively. In most cases, you should request a refund directly through the store where you made the purchase.

If you have explicitly consented to the immediate provision of digital content and acknowledged that you thereby waive your right of withdrawal, the right of withdrawal may expire early in accordance with Art. 16(m) of Directive 2011/83/EU.


8. AI Features

Activities Matter offers optional AI-powered features. By using these features, you agree to the following:

  • AI features require your explicit action before any data is sent. No AI processing happens silently.
  • Before each AI interaction, a consent screen displays exactly what data will be sent and to which provider. You may save your preference to skip this screen for future interactions.
  • You choose your AI provider (Mistral or Anthropic) in the app settings.
  • Data sent to AI providers is transmitted over HTTPS and is not stored or used for training AI models by the provider.
  • By using AI features, you acknowledge that your selected data will be processed by the third-party AI provider you have chosen, subject to their respective terms of service and privacy policies.

9. Device Permissions

The App requests the following device permissions, and only when you use the specific feature that requires them — never centrally on app launch:

  • Camera: For taking photos or videos to attach to journal entries
  • Photo Library: For choosing existing photos or videos from your device to attach to entries
  • Microphone: For recording voice notes attached to journal entries
  • Location: For optionally tagging your location when you create a new entry. Location data is stored locally on your device only
  • Contacts: For the “with whom” feature, allowing you to tag people from your device contacts in your activity entries. You control which contacts are accessible within the app. Contact data is not shared with any third party

10. Location and Map Services

The App includes optional location tracking and map features:

  • Location Tracking: When enabled, the App captures your device’s location when you create a new entry. This location data is stored locally on your device only.
  • Saved Places with Maps: When you create a Saved Place, the App uses map services to display the location and convert geographic coordinates to human-readable addresses:
    • iOS: Uses Apple Maps and Apple’s geocoding services, subject to Apple’s Terms of Use and Privacy Policy
    • Android: Uses Google Maps and Google’s geocoding services, subject to Google’s Terms of Use and Privacy Policy
    • The App also offers OpenStreetMap as a privacy-friendly map alternative
  • Your Control: All location features are optional and can be disabled at any time through the App preferences.
  • Third-Party Terms: By using location and map features, you also agree to comply with the applicable terms and policies of Apple (for iOS) or Google (for Android).

11. User Content

Users can only see their own content. We do not have access to or control over the content users store in the App. You retain all rights to the content you create.

You agree not to use the App to store or process content that is unlawful or infringes on any third-party rights.


12. Prohibited Activities

You agree not to:

  • Access or use the App for any illegal purpose
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the App or its related systems
  • Interfere with the security or integrity of the App
  • Use the App to transmit any harmful or disruptive content
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the App
  • Use the App for spam, phishing, or unauthorized commercial purposes

13. Anonymized App Activity Data

We collect anonymized user activity data via TelemetryDeck to understand how users interact with the App and to improve our services. This data is fully anonymized and does not contain any personal information, such as specific moods or activities. It is stored securely on TelemetryDeck’s servers in Germany (EU). You can choose to stop the collection of this anonymized data at any time through the App settings. Disabling this feature will not affect your ability to use the App.


14. Third-Party Services

To provide certain functionalities, our App integrates with the following third-party services:

  • Supabase: For secure user account management, subscription verification, rate limiting, and encrypted data backups. Backup data is end-to-end encrypted — we cannot read its contents.
  • RevenueCat: For secure processing of in-app subscriptions.
  • TelemetryDeck: For privacy-friendly anonymized analytics in the app and on our website. Based in Germany (EU). Does not use cookies or cross-site tracking. App analytics can be disabled in app settings.
  • Google (Sign-In, Maps, Play Store): For OAuth authentication, map display and geocoding on Android, and app distribution.
  • OpenStreetMap: For privacy-friendly map display as an alternative to Google/Apple Maps.
  • Mistral / Anthropic (optional AI features): When you use AI features, your selected data is sent to your chosen AI provider over HTTPS. This data is not stored or used for training by the provider.
  • Apple / Google: App distribution, payment processing, and map/location services.

We encourage you to review the terms and privacy policies of these third-party services.


15. Service Availability

We strive to keep Activities Matter available, but the App is provided without guarantees of uptime or availability. The main functionalities of the App operate on your device, so performance depends on your device’s capabilities.

We may modify, update, or discontinue features of the App at any time. In the event of permanent discontinuation of the App, we will provide reasonable notice when possible.


16. Data Deletion

You have full control over your accounts and data. You can delete your account and all associated data directly within the App. This includes:

  • Your account information managed by Supabase
  • Your encrypted backup stored on our servers
  • Anonymized app activity data and subscription details

Once you delete your account, all data stored on our systems will be permanently removed. Data stored locally on your device will remain unless you delete it manually or uninstall the App.

Important: Since all journaling data is stored locally on your device, deleting the App without a backup means all local data will be permanently lost and cannot be recovered.


17. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

  • We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App
  • Our total liability for any claims arising from your use of the App is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or EUR 100, whichever is greater
  • We are not liable for the loss of locally stored data due to device failure, app deletion, or any cause outside our control

These limitations do not apply to:

  • Liability for intent (Vorsatz) or gross negligence (grobe Fahrlassigkeit)
  • Liability for injury to life, body, or health
  • Liability under the German Product Liability Act (Produkthaftungsgesetz)
  • Liability for breach of material contractual obligations (wesentliche Vertragspflichten / Kardinalpflichten) — in such cases, liability for simple negligence is limited to foreseeable, typically occurring damages
  • Any mandatory liability under EU or German consumer protection law

Your statutory rights as a consumer remain unaffected.


18. Privacy

Your privacy is fundamental to Activities Matter. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand how we collect, use, and protect your information.


19. Termination

By You

You can stop using the App at any time. You can delete your account through the app settings (see “Data Deletion” above).

By Us

We reserve the right to terminate or suspend access to the App if:

  • You violate these Terms
  • We are required to do so by law
  • Your account shows patterns consistent with abuse

We will notify you of termination when possible and provide reasons unless prohibited by law.


20. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Terms on this page. Material changes will be communicated through the App where reasonably possible.

Your continued use of the App following the posting of changes constitutes your acceptance of such changes. If you do not agree to the changes, you should stop using the App and delete your account.


21. Governing Law & Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, without regard to conflict of law principles. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG) is excluded.

Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of Activities Matter shall be resolved in the courts of Berlin, Germany. This does not affect your rights as a consumer to bring claims in the courts of your country of residence.

For EU consumers: You may also use the European Commission’s Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. We are not obligated to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board, but may choose to do so on a case-by-case basis.


22. Miscellaneous

  • Entire Agreement: These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Stojanov Ventures regarding Activities Matter.
  • Severability: If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
  • No Waiver: Our failure to enforce any provision does not constitute a waiver of that provision.
  • Assignment: You may not assign your rights under these Terms without our written consent. We may assign our rights to a successor entity, provided your rights under these Terms are not diminished.
